It’s World Vegan Day. Veganism is a way of life where vegans don’t use animals - to the extent possible and practicable in this non-vegan world - for any purpose
It’s not based on kindness or compassion. Sure, those are important in life but no one owes you those. Practicing veganism is a basic moral obligation recognising a right
Veganism means we extend to nonhuman animals the same basic fairness we expect for ourselves and extend to human animals: we are not commodities and they’re not either. We have the right to live unmolested and with autonomy over our bodies and they have this same basic right
There is no morally relevant difference between us and them with respect to the application of basic fairness. Any difference we manufacture is speciesism and human privilege
Be vegan
Happy World Vegan Day Emi!
